I think the owner of this golf cart also owns a fire extinguisher business and has a bright red 1950s vintage Chevy pickup truck.

- We live in the little town of Avalon (pop. 3,500) on Catalina Island, a bit west of Los Angeles. We call Avalon the Golf Cart Universe because there are only a limited number of "normal" cars allowed on the island, while golf carts are OK for everyone. Life moves at the pace of a golf cart, and golf carts have a top speed of about 8 mph. During rush hour--I'm kidding, we don't even have a rush minute--there are kids riding down Avalon's busiest streets on skateboards. Although golf carts are handy for hauling groceries and other heavy items, this town is made for walking. Most residents live in about a one square mile area overlooking the gorgeous boat harbor. The grocery store is next to the Radio Shack, which is across the street from the Post Office and the hardware store, right next to the pharmacy and the LA County Library. What else do you need? Oh, the schools and the well-equipped medical center are three blocks away. There's even a 9 hole golf course where Tiger Woods once played. Life is good.
